Reincarnation
Just mention the word reincarnation and most Christians go ballistic! Why? Our images of reincarnation, mostly from Eastern religions, are of people dying and then being born again in another body or people coming back as animals or insects. These false images are causing such confusion and discord among God’s children. If we believe in the Truth of God’s Word, then why can we not accept what is so clearly written. We must calm our spirits and let the peace of Truth set us free from all confusion about this issue.
The Word of God gives us a beautiful example of our Father’s glorious power as it records for us that He translated Elijah to be used again in His plan as John the Baptist. In II Kings 2:11 Elijah is taken by God. In Malachi 4:5 we are told that God will send Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, Christ’s fulfillment of our Father’s plan of salvation. In Matthew 11:13 & 14, 17:10-13, Luke 1:17, The Word made flesh tells us numerous times that John the Baptist IS Elijah. Are we so stubborn and stiff-necked about our false images that we do not have eyes and ears to believe our own Savior and Teacher, Jesus Christ? Matthew 11:14 & 15 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Yes, we know that many teach that Hebrews 9:27 disproves reincarnation because it says it is appointed once for man to die. There is no contradiction here! Elijah did not die until he died as John the Baptist, ONCE. Then they teach that since John said he was not the prophet, John 1:21, that proves he was not Elijah. Being born as a baby, of course, John had no memories of his past life. He was there to do the job as the Baptist and Messenger that our Father had sent him to do.
As with all confusion and discord there is an underlying cause and it is usually fear or pride. Some are afraid that they will have to come back and go through this life again. They dream of receiving their crowns of gold and mansions and being done with this fleshly existence. Some think that this teaching is giving others a second chance and in their arrogance and pride they judge that they know of no one who deserves such a chance to serve God again in the flesh.
One thing is for certain, if we or anyone else has been translated and is now serving God again, how would we know? Like John we would have no memory of our past lives.
We need to leave the servant dispensations to God and get about the business of serving our Father as He leads, guides and instructs us in our lives today.
May we all be at Peace with this teaching of Truth. Amen
