The Two Witnesses of Revelation Chapter 11: 3
We have been taught that these two witnesses are Moses and Elijah, Moses and Enoch, or Elijah and Enoch. This teaching has caused some rather unchristian-like discussions to have taken place. Since Elijah and Enoch were translated, some people think they are the ones. Some say Moses and Elijah, since they were on the Mount of Transfiguration with Christ. Weren’t we instructed by God not to build tabernacles for them? Mark 9: 5 - 7 Looking to them to be some kind of saviors during the tribulation period is doing just that. If being translated and not seeing death is the prerequisite for being one of the two witnesses, the Bible says Moses died and was buried, Deuteronomy 34: 5,6 and Joshua 1: 2, and was not translated. It is written!
We believe the two witnesses are ALL the believers of God who are sealed with His truth, led by His spirit and will stand for It. They are the "body of Christ"! They are the two candlesticks or churches, Revelation 1: 20 (Smyrna and Philadelphia, of whom Christ found no fault) and the two olive trees of Zechariah 4:3 and the two anointed ones that stand by the Lord of the whole earth, Zechariah 4: 14. These witnesses, according to Revelation 11: 5 and 6, have the power to devour any one who tries to hurt (offend or stop them from teaching the truth) with fire (God's glorifying truth) from their mouth. They also can shut up the rain (truth, God's Holy Word) from heaven causing the waters (people) to die spiritually from lack of knowledge of God’s Word, Hosea 4: 6. Let’s all pray that we, as our Father’s witnesses, olive trees, candlesticks and anointed ones, keep that heavenly rain and fire (Truth) coming down from above!
In Acts 1: 8 and Isaiah 43: 10, we are told clearly that we are our Lord’s witnesses.
The confusion seems to come from taking the word two literally instead of symbolically. Two means witnessing or union in Revelation 11:3. Truth and the witnessing or teaching of that Truth brings us into union with our Father and His Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We have seen firsthand how these two witnesses, as two supernatural people, are being used as a security blanket by the same people who are so quick to judge the ones who believe in the Rapture as their security blanket.
The only security blanket anyone needs is Jesus Christ! The Way, The Truth and the Life!
